The final trailer for Amazon’s ‘superhero’ series The Boys has been released. The series is based off of the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson that features a group of people who take it upon themselves to bring misbehaving super-powered beings to…justice.
I really want to read these books so I can see if they are accurately portraying the story here. I hate being in the dark, worse, I hate being deceived. For years I thought Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was reflective of the actual Final Fantasy universe…until I was informed it wasn’t even close. Some people love living in ignorance…I’m not one of those people.
Unfortunately, I just don’t have the time right now to read those books (too busy working on original content for this site!) so I’m going to have to put this show on the backburner until I can rectify my lack of knowledge.
What do I think of these trailers? I’m…intrigued.
It looks gritty and the humor doesn’t look terrible (The speed gag was pretty good). The concept is fairly unique and feels fresh when contrasted with the current superhero landscape.
I’m curious to see how these people (who I’m guessing do not have superpowers) are supposed to be able to ‘chastise’ these super-powered-beings. The hero theory ratio is very, very wide so I’m not sure that this will work…but it might if we are introduced to some sort of ‘advantage’ given to these guys.
Bottom line, I think this looks good!
How about that…
