I was pleasantly surprised the first time I played Insomniac’s Spider-Man. My relationship status with Spider-Man games have been put on “It’s complicated” for years, however, this go-round they nailed it. A large part of the game is dedicated to the story of an older but still complicated Peter Parker. It was a nice change of pace from its predecessors and was well received by fans and critics. Luckily for us, Marvel has revealed a new miniseries dubbed, Spider-Man: Velocity, that will debut in August. This will follow up on the story right where the game left off and dive into Spider-Man’s Velocity Suit.
Sources from IGN state
“Spider-Man: Velocity will debut in August, following the conclusion of Spider-Man: City at War (which adapts the events of the game). Velocity will again be written by City at War’s Dennis “Hopeless” Hallum, with art from Emilio Laiso (Star Wars: Doctor Aphra) and covers by Skan.”
The story will focus on Peter Parker trying to maintain control of New York City while battling against the Super Villain “Swarm”. Mary Jane Watson teams up the legendary Daily Bugle journalist Ben Urich and somewhere along the way they even run into a poltergeist. If you’re as intrigued as me be sure to keep your eyes peeled in August and if you haven’t caught up with the story so far Insomniac’s Spider-Man is definitely worth your time.
