So there’s been low mummers of excitement regarding PlayStation’s next console floating around both on and off the internet. It may not feel like it but its been quite some time since the PlayStation 4 has been out, many people are wondering what exactly Sony is up to and when can expect the next big console.
Well the rumor stew will have to keep brewing for a little while longer since Sony is telling reporters that the next generation PlayStation won’t be released until 2020.
Sony:
-No next-gen PlayStation launch over next 12 months
-PS Now has been ave. 40% annual growth since launch, now 700,000 users
-Much of Y31.1 billion (difference between past fy op vs this fy op outlook) to be invested to develop next PlayStation console— Takashi Mochizuki (@mochi_wsj) April 26, 2019
As far as any specs on the console The Verge reported that “the PS5 will support 8K graphics, 3D audio, SSD storage, and backwards compatibility with existing PlayStation 4 titles. The PS5 will also use an eight-core CPU based on AMD’s third-gen Ryzen line, and include a GPU that supports ray-tracing graphics.”
We can expect that other next gen consoles like Xbox will be packing similar heat as well. Other than that there isn’t much actually being said from Sony on the new console. So for now we may as well get comfy as it will be a good minute before we get our hands on some serious new hardware.
