I-Marcus News Briefs: Y: The Last Man Loses Its Showrunners, Game of Thrones Scores Big Ratings, And Hulu Buys Back More Of Itself

Y: The Last Man Loses its Showrunners

Showrunners…well, former showrunners of FX’s adaptation of the popular comic book Y: The Last Man Aida Croal and Michael Green have left the series. The break is said to be the result of “creative differences”. The show will be moving forward with its established cast. No replacements for the duo have been found yet.

Has anyone read this book? Is Y really the last man? For some reason this always struck me as a loose plot to a porno.

Game of Thrones Scores Big Ratings

The season 8 premiere of Game of Thrones drew in 17.4 Million views across all of HBO’s various platforms (HBOGO, linear and HBO NOW). The season 7 premiere only garnered a measly 16.1 Million. This is hardly surprising however, the show is immensely popular and this is the last season.

Interestingly, I recently canceled my HBO NOW subscription…I realized that I rarely used the darn thing.

Hulu Buys Back More Of Itself

Streaming service Hulu has secured a deal with At&T to buy back from them its minority stake in the company. AT&T’s interest was valued at $1.43 billion. This leaves only two companies owning the streaming giant, Disney and NBCU.

Hilariously I canceled my Hulu subscription after they pulled advertising from the lovely Laura Ingraham…I haven’t missed them one bit. Okay, I do miss Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, but that will end once I purchase the series.
