    IT – Official Trailer 1

Here is another trailer for the latest adaption of Stephen King’s IT.

Those that know me know that my philosophy when it comes to adapting a creative work is pretty simple. Keep it as close to the source material as humanly possible.

Period. Check your ego at the door and do everything you can to respect the vision of the original work.

My philosophy for those who eschew that mandate and allow their hubris to contaminate the memory of another artists work is also very simple: No mercy.

    None. Zero.

You mess with the bull. You get the horns.

Much like the upcoming The Dark Tower movie (another Stephen King adaptation) they have made a lot of changes to the story.

Does this automatically qualify the movie for damnation? There have been instances where I’ve thought an adaption was going to be horrible…and it wasn’t. It’s been known to happen.

    But not often.

As for the trailer..the cinematography looks nice, I’ve noted that before. I think they went overboard with Pennywise…instead of subtle, building, dread or playful deviousness (1990 mini-series) they’ve gone the ostentatious route. There is an extremely good reason why Freddy Kruger could never regain the terror of his first outing.

It looks like they are going to do a lot of jump scares (lame city) and that the movie is going to blow its load, way too soon…and never, ever recover.

Just my guess, though. Let’s wait and see.

“IT” starring Bill Skarsgård, Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer and Nicholas Hamilton skitters into theaters September 8th.
