Ashes in the Snow is based off of the New York Times bestseller Between Shades of Grey. It centers around a young sixteen year old girl and her family who are whisked away in the middle of the night when Soviet Secret Police barge in one night and take them away to a Soviet labor camp where they are separated from their father. In her attempts to reach him, she starts writing and documenting her experiences. With notes and art she hopes to get the messages to her father to let him know their family is still alive.
