Guillermo del Toro is a bit of a puzzle. I absolutely adored Pan’s Labyrinth (2006) but have to admit the bulk of his work after that I’ve found to be…hit or miss. This fish out of water tale looks to be on the quirkier side (and a love story to boot) but flourishes some talented actors with impressive resumes. Hard to get a bead on it from just the trailer alone, but it could be interesting. Here’s hoping.
The Shape of Water starring Sally Hawkins , Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Octavia Spencer, Michael Stuhlbarg and Doug Jones opens in theaters December 8th.
