Directed by Robert Rodriguez with a screenplay by James Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis, Alita: Battle Angel is the story about an abandoned cyborg found by a doctor who soon learns that she has an extraordinary past…and future. The film is based on the Yukito Kishiro manga Battle Angel Alita.
Toruk's Take‘Then I’m just an insignificant girl.’
I have a confession to make. I hate that they rearranged the name of this property. Battle Angel Alita is a zillion times cooler than freakin Alita: Battle Angel. It just sticks in the mouth. It’s clunky and awful. I would even take “Gun Dream’ over Alita: Battle Angel or even just ‘Battle Angel’. Ugh, ugh, ugh.
About the latest trailer…I don’t know. I just don’t know. I’m not really hearing anything interesting in the dialogue, nothing memorable anyway: “You made the biggest mistake of your life…underestimating who I am.” 🙄 . I am detecting some ‘girrrrrl power’ vibes…I hope that’s not the case but you never know these days. So many of our heroes have fallen during this culture war. You can’t assume anything anymore.
I guess we’ll see in February.
Alita: Battle Angel starring Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley, and Keean Johnson opens in theaters February 14, 2019
