Master of Wushu Donnie Yen, who is best known for his role as Ip Man in the Ip Man franchise, has a new action movie out called Big Brother. In the film, directed by Ka-Wai Kam, Yen, a former soldier becomes a teacher at a poor school.
Geekyrant.com synopsis:
“Yen plays a former soldier in the story who becomes a teacher at a school in a poor neighborhood, where the harshness of their reality, corruption of the spirit, and government bureaucracy make it difficult for students to succeed. So, the teacher implements unconventional teaching methods to help these kids rise to the top in the system he has given up on. He will also have to take the fight to the streets to protect and inspire the kids. “
“If I can do it. You can do it.”
Wow..this looks a lot better than I thought it was gonna look. I honestly was expecting some SJW-agenda nonsense with a heavy layering of victimhood but this looks like a straight story about an unconventional teacher connecting with his students. Based on this trailer the kids seem normal and likable (a rarity these days). This looks like something that would have been made in the 80’s and 90’s…which is good thing.
What I’m saying true believers…is that I just might check this out.
So far so good Donnie… I really hope this doesn’t disappoint!
Big Brother starring Donnie Yen ridge-hands its way into theaters August 16.
Propaganda rating, damn near none!
