Bleach is another one of those long running Manga’s /Anime that I haven’t gotten around to seeing. I mentioned my interest in Full Metal Alchemist when I first learned of the live action film. I thought that something that held the attention of fans for so long had to be something worthy of a look-see. So, I began watching the Anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Bloodline. And what do I think? I think…it’s pretty darn good. Sure there are lots of goofy moments and the juxtaposition of this and the more serious, intense action sequences takes some getting used to but the series definitely has meat. When I finish I’ll check out the live action film…hopefully it won’t stink to high heavens, but who knows.
So regarding Bleach…what is this one about? Let’s take a gander at movieweb’s synopsis:
“Bleach is centered around Ichigo Kurosaki, who has the ability to see spirits and later gains the power of a Soul Reaper. He is able to usher lost souls to the afterlife, which gives him the duty to protect the living world from dark spirits known as Hollows. The original Manga series ran from 2001 to 2016 and was collected into 74 volumes, which have gone on to sell over 900 million copies in Japan alone.”
Sounds pretty impressive. 900 millions copies…I’m sure our American comic company’s would love to see numbers like that. I can’t even begin to guess when I will have a chance to look at this series but the least I can do is present the latest news…which is a poster…featuring people I’m sure Bleach fans will know.
The live action film hits Japanese theaters July 20th.
