When many Star Wars fans who saw the last Jedi voiced their horror about the direction the now Disney owned property had taken, fervent sycophants and paid Hollywood shills told them they were wrong for not liking such a great, progressive entry into the Star Wars canon. I said to one individual that the backlash from the movie was looking to be quite substantial. Their response? It was all in my head.
Indeed, I suppose the organized boycott of Solo and the campaign to see Kathleen Kennedy ousted from her position as President of Lucasfilm is all in my head too. Hundreds if not thousands of videos decrying Rian Johnson, The Last Jedi and Disney Star Wars, in general, can be found on YouTube. Shill extraordinaire John Campea was eviscerated recently when he came out to declare his love for the new Solo movie, so much so he felt the need to write an open letter on Facebook to decry the fandom who he believes has become to “toxic”. His YouTube video review has the comments disabled…the universal sign that he expects or has received massive negative feedback.
On Rotten Tomatoes the users “want to see” score has plummeted to 40%. This is unprecedented for an upcoming Star Wars film. The Fandom is not happy. And for good reason. They do not like the obvious agenda they see being inserted into a series they once held dear. They do not want to see their heroes getting run through by emo children, flying through space like Mary Poppins, drinking green breast-milk from some beast or having the compulsion to have sex with anything that moves (pan-sexual) as Jon Kasdan has reiterated about Lando.
They do not want to see characters they love disgraced and destroyed only to be replaced with sad, vapid mouthpieces like Rose Tico.
And they do not want to be told that they are racist, homophobic, privileged, or bigoted just because they have a problem with it.
But this is what is happening. And this is what will keep happening until the fans rise up and take the power away from these degenerates, these SJW’s whose very nature is not to create and foster…but to desecrate and destroy. They will keep doing this as long as we allow them to benefit from the Capitalist system they hold in such contempt. As they spit on the values that we hold dear. As they demonize males for simple act of existing. They will continue to do this as long as we give in to our base desire for immediate gratification, our need for escapism. Entertainment is a powerful lure…and for the Geek it is our ultimate Kryptonite.
But we must persevere.
We must not give in.
We do not have to hold out forever. We just have to hold out for one weekend.
THIS weekend.
One weekend is all we need to send a message to the entire world. If we stand together the sound of our resounding no will echo through the media for days…and it will reverberate through history forever.
“I will not sacrifice the Enterprise. We’ve made too many compromises already, too many retreats. They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again! The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And I will make them PAY for what they’ve done!” — Jean-Luc Picard
Boycott Solo this weekend.
Let’s crush these so-called Stars…and let us forever be known as Star Crushers.
