So we have a teaser trailer for the latest Predator movie “The Predator” which is directed by Shane Black and co-written by Shane Black and Fred Dekker. Shane Black starred in (briefly) and was an uncredited writer for the first Predator (1997) film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. I’ve enjoyed most of the films written by Shane Black. Over the years he built up a large cache of goodwill with me. He lost pretty much all of it with Iron Man 3 (2013).
The utter disrespect shown for the character was disgusting. Had I seen him in person they would have had to surgically remove my foot from his anal cavity. With that said…the past is the past. I’m willing to give some folks a second chance.
Unfortunately, I’m not very optimistic regarding the Predator series anymore. I wanted them to give up and stick a fork in it years ago. But alas, here we are again.
Let’s see what we have.
Are Predators extraordinarily bad pilots all of a sudden? How many times have they been to earth now? First impression, it looks silly. Did we lose grit since the 90’s? Why is it so hard to put together sci-fi/fantasy with teeth anymore? Scanners. The Hidden. The Fly. Why does everything look glossy and pop? Why is everything a bad joke?
Whatever.
The Predator starring Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, and Yvonne Strahovski stalks theaters September 14, 2018.
