Variety reports that Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)), Chappaquiddick (2017)) is in talks with Paramount to play the character of Louis Creed in the studio’s remake of Stephen King’s classic adaptation from 1989. Set to be directed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer (Starry Eyes, 2014) and written by Jeff Buhler The Midnight Meat Train, (2008) and David Kajganich The Invasion, (2007), the Pet Sematary remake is set to hit theaters April 19, 2019.
Well, those in the know, know I can’t stand remakes. I don’t see the point. With so many stories to tell it seems like a spectacular and lazy waste of talent and time. With all that said, they seem to have assembled a team whose body of work isn’t abhorrent. A lot of the films on their resumes flutter around B to A- quality so there is the likelihood that this wont suck.
But then you have to ask yourself why don’t they use this team to adapt a work of Stephen King that hasn’t already been done?
I eagerly await their response.
