DC Entertainment can use all the good news it can get and comicbook.com is reporting via Collider that the upcoming Aquaman film directed by James Wan may be more than good. John Rocha says that he is hearing positive things from DC Comics writer Marc Andreyko.
“I was talking to Marc Andreyko last week, this time last week. And he said ’I’m hearing rumblings that it’s a fantastic film.’ So he, through his connections at DC, has access to people who have seen it and have said the same thing.”– John Rocha
They go on to mention that several sources have said that they ‘loved’ the test screening and that one source even claims the action scenes ‘put what was seen in Wonder Woman and Justice League to shame’.
This, of course, must be taken with a huge grain of salt. Sadly, Collider and organizations like it are shills of the highest order. There’s not much that comes out that they don’t like so it’s hard to be swayed when they claim something is ‘good’. However, I find myself rooting for DC more often lately. I’ve found a lot of the recent criticisms becoming more and more unfair and with Marvel’s films drifting further and further toward Identity Politics I will likely be leaving that camp altogether soon.
Here’s what Jason Momoa had to say about the film:
“The only thing that can save Atlantis is me fighting my own brother. There’s a big battle, and there’s an epic [fight]. It’s also a big road movie, because we travel all over the world. It’s got that Star Wars quality of gigantic ships and guys riding sharks. It’s going to be this whole world you’ve never seen before. You’re going to see him start as this guy who probably rides bikes, works on cars. You get to see him this one way as kind of a dirty, dark, drunkard, and then turn into this regal king.”
Aquaman Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Dolph Lundgren and Patrick Wilson hits theaters this December.
