Toruk takes a look at the official Solo: A Stars Wars story trailer.
“I’m gonna be a pilot, best in the galaxy.”
I don’t ever recall being a great pilot one of Han Solo’s ambitions. Becoming rich, sure. Maybe this nugget is buried deep in some ancient text.
I know I shouldn’t be surprised after all these years but I am still taken aback at how short the memory is for geeks when it comes to the properties they love. Some of them are insanely forgiving and are super quick to welcome a franchise back into their hearts if it shows even the hint of delivering them the characters they love.
I do not have a short memory.
I am not forgiving.
I think this movie is completely unnecessary.
I do think Ron Howard is a good director and I think he is capable of delivering a visually impressive product. But it isn’t the visuals that concern me when it comes to this property…it’s the agenda. And it’s the subverting of Star Wars lore. This trailer for the most part is entertaining. But I see elements within the trailer that trigger my spider sense.
I predict the fan-base will once again become excited about a Star Wars movie.
As or me, I will hang back…and wait…and watch.
