New Details about John Wick Prequel Series The Continental

For some time now, there have been talks about possible spinoffs to John Wick movies. The baroque universe created by screenwriter Derek Kolstad and director Chad Stahelski certainly seems rich enough for all kinds of stories featuring badass characters. One of these projects is the prequel series Continental, set in an elite New York hotel exclusively catering to assassins and similar criminals.

The prequel will take place forty years before the movies and focus on a young man named Winston, played in the films by Ian McShane (Deadwood). In 1970s New York, Winston wants to create a hotel for unsavory types, a sort of neutral ground where they can meet and mingle without resorting to violence.

According to GeekTyrant, Continental will premiere on Starz and consist of only three installments. However, each of them will be feature-length and have a budget of approximately $20 million. The first and third episodes will be directed by Albert Hughes who, along with his twin brother Allen, previously helmed movies like Menace II Society, Dead Presidents, From Hell, and Book of Eli. Kolstad and Stahelski will executive produce alongside director David Leitch (Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Hobbs & Shaw).
