Eli Roth began filming Borderlands movie this month in Hungary, reports SlashFilm. An upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular game series by Gearbox has a fairly impressive cast. As we previously reported, Cate Blanchett (Thor: Ragnarok) and Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween) will appear in the film, alongside Jack Black (recent Jumanji movies), Kevin Hart (also in Jumanji movies), Ariana Greenblatt (Avengers: Infinity War), and Florian Munteanu (Creed II). Furthermore, in a recent press release, Lionsgate announced Edgar Ramirez (American Crime Story) would portray the main villain.
Additionally, the release included a plot synopsis for the film penned by Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin. Blanchett will play Lilith, an infamous outlaw returning to her home planet Pandora to find the daughter of the arms manufacturer Atlas (Ramirez). On Pandora, she teams up with a mercenary soldier Roland (Hart), teen demolitionist Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), her bodyguard Krieg (Munteanu), a scientist named Tannis (Curtis), and a wisecracking robot Claptrap (Black).
Last February, we first wrote about the Borderlands movie. Roth made a name for himself with horror movies like Cabin Fever and Hostel. He also directed the family-friendly film The House with a Clock in Its Walls. It was in this movie that Roth first collaborated with Black and Blanchett.
