HBO Reportedly Considering Three Additional Game of Thrones Spinoffs

HBO is considering three new prequel shows to its worldwide epic fantasy hit series Game of Thrones. According to the article by AVClub, the prequels are 9 Voyages, Flea Bottom, and 10,000 Ships. 9 Voyages a.k.a. Sea Snake, seems to have already assembled a creative team that includes Bruno Heller (creator of The Mentalist). The show would follow the legendary journeys of Corlys Velaryon, famous seafarer and husband to Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, who sailed all over the known world. Flea Bottom would focus on the titular neighborhood in King’s Landing – possibly the worst slum in the Seven Kingdoms. Finally, 10,000 Ships would tell a story about warrior princess Nymeria who, after a defeat of her people in Essos, led them to Dorne to establish a new kingdom.

These three prequels arrive on top of two new shows already in the works. The first one – House of the Dragonalready boasts a fairly impressive cast. Then, this January arrived the news that HBO is developing a second prequel series, based on George R. R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg stories set in Westeros a century before the events of Game of Thrones.

It is also possible most – If any! – of these spinoffs won’t be made. HBO might be merely floating out ideas to gauge reactions by the fans and the media. But then again, stranger things have happened in the world of franchise entertainment.
