Last September, we first wrote about Amazon developing a spinoff to its hit superhero series The Boys. Well, the team behind the show just announced the first casting. According to the BloodyDisgusting, Lizze Broadway (HBO’s series Here and Now) and Jaz Sinclair (Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) have joined the cast. They will both portray aspiring do-gooders – called Emma and Marie, respectively – who enrolled in America’s only college for budding superheroes. Since it is owned and operated by the sinister corporation Vought International, things will get real dark real fast. According to the creators, the show will focus on the so-called G-Men, one of the most popular and profitable superhero teams, due to their public image as outcasts and orphans, despite the fact they’re rolling in cash.
Considering the darkly satirical tone of The Boys, you know you can expect sex, satire, and over-the-top violence. Craig Rosenberg, who helped produce the original show and equally violent comic book adaptation Preacher, will serve as showrunner. Erik Kripke, who created the original show based on a long-running comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, will serve as a producer, alongside Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. As yet, there has been no information about when will the shooting of the spinoff begin.
