BloodyDisgusting says Stephen King’s novella Elevation will get adapted into a motion picture. In charge of this project will be Jack Bender. Bender is a veteran TV producer with several King adaptations behind him, including shows like Mr. Mercedes, The Outsider, and Under the Dome. He also helped produce TV shows such as Alcatraz, The Last Ship, and Lost.
First published in 2018, Elevation follows Scott Carey, a heavy-set man who one day begins to rapidly and mysteriously lose weight, even as his outside appearance doesn’t change. Carey is also involved in a local controversy surrounding a lesbian couple trying to start a restaurant business. The novella takes place in Castle Rock, Maine – a location featured in many of King’s novels and stories, like Needful Things and The Dead Zone. Castle Rock was most recently depicted in Hulu’s horror series of the same title, which lasted two seasons.
Horror novels of Stephen King remain immensely popular over fifty years after he burst into stardom in 1974 with his bestselling horror novel Carrie. Since then, there have seemingly always been new adaptations of King’s books in the works – some of them good, others… not so much.
