George Clooney Cast in Buck Rogers TV Series

GeekTyrant reports that Academy-award winning actor, producer, and director George Clooney will help produce the new Buck Rogers TV series. Clooney is likely to play one of the roles in the show as well. Legendary Entertainment has been developing this project for a while now, with Brian K. Vaughan as one of the screenwriters. Over the years, Vaughan wrote many award-winning graphic novels, including Ex Machina, Pride of Baghdad, Runaways, Saga, and Y: The Last Man. He has also been working as a Hollywood screenwriter on shows such as Lost and Under the Dome.

Philip Francis Nowlan created Buck Rogers in the novella Armageddon 2419 A.D., first published in 1928. A man out of his time, Rogers awakens five hundred years from now, only to find himself caught in a planetary war. The character proved surprisingly popular, appearing in comic books, radio shows, movie serials, and at least two TV shows: ABC TV series from 1950 and NBC show that first aired in 1979, where he was portrayed by the actor Gil Gerard. Don Murphy – who previously produced Michael Bay’s Transformers movies – now aims to turn Buck Rogers into a multi-media franchise, spanning movies, a TV show, and an animated series.
