HBO Developing Second Game of Thrones Prequel Series?

Over the past several years, HBO has been looking for ways of continuing Game of Thrones even as the planetary-popular series approached its finale. Finally, it settled on an adaptation of Fire and Blood, a fictional history of the Targaryen royal dynasty, penned by George R. R. Martin, writer of The Song of Ice and Fire. As we reported previously, the prequel series – titled House of the Dragon – will feature Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One) and Matt Smith (Doctor Who).

Well, according to GeekTyrant, HBO is now developing a second prequel series! This one is based on the Dunk and Egg stories, also written by Martin. Stories take place about a century before the show’s events and follow Ser Duncan the Tall, an impoverished knight, and his squire Egg. Duncan eventually becomes a member of the Kingsguard, while Egg turns out to be Prince Aegon Targaryen, the future king of Westeros.

Currently, there are no details about the series, since the project has only just entered development. If HBO decides to pick up the show, it will most likely be a high priority for this premium cable network. However, this isn’t one hundred percent certain. Back in 2018, HBO considered a prequel show set during the mythical past of Westeros. The network even green-lighted and hired Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service, X-Men: First Class) as a showrunner only to eventually drop the project.
