This year’s Golden Globes experienced an 11% decline in the 18-49 Demo landing at a 5.0 rating (19 million views). This is the lowest it has been for that demo since 2012. Last year’s Golden Globes was hosted by Jimmy Fallon, this year Seth Meyers took over hosting duties. This was his first shot at hosting the award show, which has been around since 1944.
One wonders if this downward trend in viewership is the result of a more prominent interjection of politics…or a simple sign of its growing irrelevance.
