Showtime Reveals the Cast of Dexter Revival

Back in October, Showtime first revealed its plans for a 10-episode “revival” of its crime drama Dexter. In the original series, Michael C. Hall played the titular character – a serial killer who hunts down and murders other killers while working as a police forensics expert. Dexter first aired in 2006 and lasted eight seasons. The show ended with – seven-year-old spoilers ahead – Dexter faking his death and escaping his home city of Miami, Florida, to work as a lumberjack in Oregon.

Over the last week or so, Showtime revealed the cast of the upcoming ninth season. The legendary Clancy Brown – character actor who had supporting roles in everything from Starship Troopers to Thor: Ragnarok – will portray the principal villain: Kurt Caldwell, the self-made man and unofficial mayor of the town of Iron Lake. Additionally, BloodyDisgusting also reports that the cast of the show will include Jack Alcott (The Good Lord Bird), Julia Jones (The Mandalorian), Alano Miller (Sylvie’s Love), and Johnny Sequoyah (Believe).

Clyde Phillips will return as the showrunner. Marcos Siega – who previously worked on the show – will be directing most of the new episodes and serve as an executive producer. The filming should start in Massachusetts this February. The revival season of Dexter is currently set to premiere on Showtime in Fall, 2021.
