Millie Bobbie Brown (Stranger Things, Godzilla: King of the Monsters) has signed on to star in The Electric State – a sci-fi movie directed by Anthony and Joseph Russo (Avengers: Infinity War; Avengers: Endgame). According to an article by Slash Film, the script for the film will be written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who already collaborated with Russo Brothers on their Marvel movies.
Set in the alternate history 1990s, The Electric State follows a teenage girl and her robot as they travel across the United States in the aftermath of a devastating war. As they navigate the country full of ruins and remains of colossal war machines, the reader learns the unnerving truth behind this alternate world’s version of the internet.
The Electric State is based on an illustrated book by the Swedish artist and writer Simon Stålenhag, who first drew notice several years ago with his retro-futuristic paintings, collected in the book Tales from the Loop. It soon became a board game, an RPG, and, this spring, an Amazon TV series featuring Rebecca Hall (The Town) and Jonathan Pryce (Game of Thrones).
