SlashFilm reveals that Chris Pratt, aka Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, will appear in the superhero film Thor: Love and Thunder. Pratt will join the cast that already includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. Marvel newcomer Christian Bale (Dark Knight trilogy) will portray a currently unknown villain.
In 2017, New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi directed the previous Thor film – Thor: Ragnarok. He will helm Thunder and Roses as well, based on a script by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Unpregnant). Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, the story will follow Thor as he gallivants across the universe alongside Quill and his crew. Meanwhile, Valkyrie will search for her queen while as the ruler of the Aasgard refugees on Earth. As for Jane Foster, she will pick up hammer Mjolnir and become the Mighty Thor.
Thor: Love and Thunder is coming out on February 22, 2022. Naturally, this might change since the coronavirus pandemic already upset the release schedule. The premiere of Black Widow in May 2020 was to start Phase Four. Since then, however, the studio has postponed that movie several times. The current release date for that film is May 2021. Which, seriously, good luck with that.
Anyway, all other Phase Four movies had to be postponed as well, including Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the currently untitled Spider-Man sequel. This deep in the pandemic, new changes in release dates seem inevitable.
