By now, you know the drill: the movie X was to come out on a certain date, but the studio got cold feet because of the global pandemic, so the movie X was postponed. As AVClub reports, Disney just removed two films from its December release schedule: Free Guy (previously slated for a December 11 release) and Death on the Nile (formerly scheduled for December 18). Currently, there are no new release dates for these two titles.
Free Guy is an action-comedy about an ordinary guy (Ryan Reynolds – Deadpool) who realizes he’s just a non-player character in an MMO game. Directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum trilogy), Free Guy also features Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) and Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows). Initially, Disney scheduled this movie for a release in July of this year, but then coronavirus happened.
Death on the Nile was slated to come out last year before being pushed until October 2020. Boy, did that turn out to be a bad decision or what? Written by Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049), this adaptation of Agatha Christie’s murder mystery novel was directed by Kenneth Branagh, who also portrays detective Hercule Poirot. As in Branagh’s 2017 Agatha Christie adaptation Murder on the Orient Express, the cast of the film is almost ridiculously stacked with talent, including – takes a deep breath – Annette Bening (American Beauty), Russell Brand (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Armie Hammer (Free Fire), Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones), Emma Mackey (Sex Education), Sophie Okonedo (Hellboy), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders (French and Saunders).
