HBO Max just ordered a ten-episode season of Green Lantern TV series, reports Variety. First announced last year, the show will be developed by Greg Berlanti producer behind superhero shows like Stargirl, Titans, and Doom Patrol. Seth Grahame-Smith (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies; Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter) will co-write and executive produce the series along with Marc Guggenheim, creator of TV shows like Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. In addition, Grahame-Smith will also serve as the showrunner.
Interestingly, the show won’t merely focus on a single character assuming the Green Lantern mantle (and the ring). According to the article, it will feature at least four of them: Alan Scott (the original Green Lantern), Guy Gardner (who first appeared in the comics in the 1960s), Simon Baz (created by writer Geoff Johns and artist Doug Mahnke in 2012), and Jessica Cruz (who first appeared in 2014). Additionally, the series will include popular Green Lantern villain Sinestro as well as Kilowog, one of the aliens training recruits in the Green Lantern Corps. So far, there’s no mention of Hal Jordan, played by Ryan Reynolds in the infamous 2011 film.
