At the risk of insulting Snowflakes, feminazis, and haters of men from all walks of life we are going to celebrate a group of women who are sexy and badass…so suck it progressives!
10. Sigourney Weaver – Ellen Ripley (Alien, 1979)
The calm before the storm. That’s what the film landscape was in the 70’s before the 80’s came in and blew every youngsters mind with creativity and originality that has never been duplicated since. In Alien, Ellen Ripley plays a warrant officer on the spaceship Nostromo who is hunted with her crew by an extraterrestrial creature. Ellen Ripley was tough, charismatic, and very ingenuitive; she bested the beasty and lived to fight another day. And she looked damn good doing it. Ellen Ripley was among the first of a new wave of action heroines that would come on the scene in the 80’s and 90’s. Even to this day she is still a tough act to follow.
9. Elizabeth Olsen – Scarlet Witch (The Age of Ultron, 2015)
A relative newcomer to the action heroine game, Elizabeth Olsen is carving out a space for herself as Wanda Maximoff aka: The Scarlet Witch in the Marvel MCU. Olsen, in additon to being a solid actress, also has an inate sexuality which permeates her role as Maximoff. This doubles when paired onscreen with the character’s comic book paramore: The Vision.
8. Linda Hamilton – Sarah Connor (The Terminator, 1984)
In the Terminator, Linda Hamilton plays Sarah Connor, a waitress who finds herself the target of a killer machine sent from the future.
It’s was very difficult to choose which Sarah to go with for this one. I love both pre-buff and post-buff Connor. I opted to go with the one that would feel best cuddled up with on a sofa in front of a fireplace. There are few things more sexy than a gal who, when faced with an insane scenario, rises to the occasion and delivers the goods.
7. Angela Basset – Mace (Strange Days, 1995)
In Strange Days, Angela Basset plays Mace, a bodyguard and limousine driver who has the hots for ex-cop Lenny Nero (played by Ralph Fiennes) both of whom find themselves caught up in a conspiracy that threatens to light the world on fire before the dawn of the millennium. Basset is at the top her game both physically and as an actress and this makes the character Mace pure TNT. How Lenny’s character could be so blind to her burning passion I’ll never know but even he succumbed to it in the end.
6. Geena Davis – Samantha Caine/Charly Baltimore, (The Long Kiss Goodnight, 1996)
In The Long Kiss Goodnight Geena Davis plays Samantha Caine, a suburban homemaker and schoolteacher who turns out to really be a CIA assassin who suffered amnesia due to a head injury. Davis’s acting chops really aid the film and her transformation from Samnatha Caine to Charly Baltimore. Samantha was cute but Charly is hot, hot, hot. What is it about a gal who can work a Stainless Ruger Mini-14 synthetic stock that makes them irresistible?
5. Milla Jovovich – Alice (Resident Evil, 1996)
In Resident Evil Milla Jovovich plays Alice, a woman who gradually learns she plays a major role in a global epidemic caused by a an organziation called the Umbrella Corporation.
Milla has the ability to ignore the camera unlike any actress I’ve ever seen. Maybe it has something to do with having an extensive modeling career prior to acting but she appears completely unselfconscious in this film, which is incredibly sexy. Another actress might insist that her wobbly bits are covered at all times but Milla gets that someone placed in a situation that her character is placed in modesty would be the least of her concerns. This commitment to the role and the intensity in which she brings to the performance (regardless of how one feels about the franchise) makes the role she is playing not only attractive…but earns my respect for the actress.
4. Kate Beckinsale – Selene (Underworld, 2003)
In Underworld, Beckinsale plays Selene a vampire known as a “death dealer” a major force in the Vampires centuries old war against the Lycans (werewolves). It takes a special kind of actress to make that skin tight leather outfit work, that is, take her serious as a bringer of pain while she is in it, but Kate pulls it off quite well. Kate has one of those types of builds…that is just hard to believe. One prays the bulk of this is natural, otherwise keeping that figure with constant diet and exercise must be a bloody nightmare. Either way…we humble mortals bow down to her with gratitude.
3. Scarlett Johansson – Black Widow (Iron Man 2, 2010)
Iron Man 2 wasn’t a great film…but it did introduce us to Scarlet Johansson’s Black Widow…and for that I say thankee-sai. It’s hard to believe I never thought of Johansson as an action star before that film but I’ll never make that mistake again. Scarlett has the type of figure we guys like to refer to as “stacked” and boy oh boy does she know how to work it to do damage. Couple that with some major league acting chops and we have a tour-de-force of sexual dynamite!
2. Zhang Ziyi – Jen Yu (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, 2000)
In Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Zhang Ziyi plays Jen Yu, a teenage nobleman’s daughter who gets herself in a fair bit of trouble after rebelling against her marriage to a man she doesn’t love. Some may say that I should have chosen Michelle Yeoh, but frankly I think Yeoh deserves an article all on her own. Ziyi oozes sensuality in this piece, especially in the desert flashback scenes, and her physicality in the martial arts sequences is extremely impressive. 18 years later and I’m still wowed…and aroused by her performance.
1. Uma Thurman – Beatrix Kiddo (Kill Bill: Vol. 2, 2004)
It’s hard to put a finger on just what it was, the new hairdo, the new outfit, or the more relaxed demeaner. Whatever it was…from Kill Bill 1 to Kill Bill 2 Beatrix Kiddo’s sex-o-meter skyrocketed. This of course, made her no less deadly. And out of all of the lovely ladies in our list…Beatrix has shown herself to be the deadliest. A lethal, beautiful swan with the kind of fiery passion a man would be hard pressed to keep up with…but would die trying.
