Harley Quinn Gets a Third Season; Filming of The Batman Resumes

Today in the DC Corner, some good news: HBO Max is renewing the Harley Quinn cartoon series for a third season. Meanwhile, the filming of The Batman in Great Britain continues two weeks after its lead Robert Pattinson tested positive for COVID-19.

On Friday, HBO Max revealed the renewal of Harley Quinn on its Twitter page, says the AV Club. The announcement was a long time coming. During a panel on the recent DC FanDome event, the cast and producers were asked about the show’s future. Supervising producer Jennifer Coyle answered they all hoped to hear some good news soon. The renewal of Harley Quinn makes a perfect sense. HBO Max, WarnerMedia’s new streaming service just renewed Doom Patrol while also acquiring all of DC Universe’s shows like Titans, Stargirl, and Young Justice. It’s also worth pointing out that the production of animation can continue even during a global pandemic since the crew can observe social distancing.

Not so with live-action movies and TV shows. An excellent example of that is the production of the latest Batman film. Several weeks ago, the production stopped when a cast member tested positive of COVID-19. It was none other than Robert Pattinson – the Batman himself. The shoot was halted even as the crew continued building the movie sets. Now, Variety reports Pattinson has been cleared, and the filming continues. Cast and crew who were in close contact with the star also spent two weeks in quarantine.
