Production of The Batman Halted Due to Coronavirus

GeekTyrant reports production of The Batman was stopped after the lead actor Robert Pattinson (Tenet, The Lighthouse) tested positive for COVID-19. By the time of this writing, Warner Bros. has only released the brief statement.

The filming of the latest DC superhero movie began in London this January, with Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In) as director. When the news of the pandemic first broke out mid-March, the studio halted the production for two weeks. By March 25, Reeves announced that filming had been suspended indefinitely. Almost six months later, filming resumed only to be put on hold after three days. Cast and crew are currently in two-week quarantine. The construction of the sets continues. The Batman has another three months of filming ahead.

This isn’t the only celebrity case of COVID-19. Back in March, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson both contracted the coronavirus while in Australia. Recently, actor Michael Rooker (The Guardians of the Galaxy) announced on Instagram he, too, tested positive. Several days ago, Dwayne Johnson (Jumanji: The Next Level) revealed that he, his wife, and their two daughters all tested positive for COVID-19 and spent several weeks recuperating.
