GeekTyrant reports Paramount Pictures postponed several upcoming releases for at least a year or more. Among them is G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes, even though the production successfully wrapped up just before the COVID-19 outbreak. However, with the pandemic still raging, the studio decided to postpone its release from October 23, 2020, to October 22, 2021. Paramount pushed other movies too. The studio postponed the next Paranormal Activity film from March 19, 2021, to March 4, 2022. Horror film Scream 5 is coming out on January 14, 2022.
All this was, unfortunately, expected. It is also worth mentioning Paramount already delayed next Mission: Impossible movies by at least five months each. Another Tom Cruise film – Top Gun: Maverick – was initially slated to come out on July 19. When the executives realized cinemas aren’t opening, they first pushed the film until December 23, 2020. Next, they postponed it again until July 2, 2021.
Robert Schwentke (Divergent, Red) directed G. I. Joe: Snake Eyes. The movie features Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians) as Snake Eyes, Úrsula Corberó (Money Heist) as Baroness, and Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) as Scarlett. The filming took place between October 15, 2019, and February 26, 2020.
