Sony Finds Director For Its Kraven the Hunter Movie

BloodyDisgusting reports the studio is in talks with the film maker J.C. Chandor (Triple Frontier, A Most Violent Year) to direct Sony’s Kraven the Hunter film. This is a project Sony has been developing for quite some time, with Richard Wenk (The Equalizer) penning the script. For those unfamiliar with the character, Sergei Kravinoff aka Kraven the Hunter is the ultimate big game hunter, obsessed with killing Spider-Man. Despite being a stone-cold killer and looking like Freddie Mercury on steroids, he also maintains a warped sense of honor towards his adversaries.

Sony has been steadily expanding its cinematic universe focusing on Spider-Man heroes and villains. The studio is already producing Morbius starring Jared Leto as well as a Venom sequel marvelously titled Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Additionally, studio hired C.J. Clarkson, who directed episodes of shows like The Defenders, Jessica Jones, and Life on Mars, for its untitled Madame Web movie. It also hired Marc Guggenheim, a long-time veteran working of The CW’s Arrowerse, to write its Jackpot movie. Finally, just last week Deadline revealed Sony hired actress and filmmaker Olivia Wilde (Booksmart) to direct a currently untitled Marvel movie focusing on the Spider-Woman character.
