During last weekend’s online-only event DC FanDome, DC Comics revealed new details about its numerous upcoming projects. Fans were by far most hyped up by the teaser trailer for The Batman. Matt Reeves’ version of the Caped Crusader seems inspired both by Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy as well as by David Fincher’s thrillers. The second trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 was popular as well.
James Gunn presented many, many characters of The Suicide Squad played by (takes a deep breath) Alice Braga, Peter Capaldi, John Cena, Jai Courtney, David Dastmalchian, Pete Davidson, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Joel Kinnaman, Margot Robbie, Michael Rooker, and Taika Waititi. Now that’s what I call an ensemble cast!
In a panel about The Flash movie, director Andy Muschietti presented sketches for the new Flash suit. Screenwriter Christina Hodson revealed this film might officially establish the DC cinematic multiverse. Which, frankly, sounds pretty much what DC and Warner Bros. are already doing. Meanwhile, Zack Snyder revealed his version of Justice League will have a running time of four hours and will be released on HBO Max split into four hour-long chunks. Dwayne Johnson talked about the Black Adam film in which he will portray the titular character. During the Shazam! panel viewers learned its sequel will be titled Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Naturally, there were other announcements as well. If you want to check them all out in one spot, the AVClub has you covered.
