Comedy Central announced it would be bringing animated cult classic Beavis and Butt-Head back, says GeekTyrant. The show’s creator Mike Judge will return to write and produce the revival as well as voice its leads, just like he did back in the 1990s. Comedy Central plans at least two seasons of the new series, with a potential for spin-offs and specials.
Beavis and Butt-Head is an adult animated TV series about farcical and frequently disgusting misadventures of two not-too-bright teenagers spending most of their time watching TV in their rundown house. While highly controversial at the time due to its violent content, the show simultaneously praised for its satirical depiction of American suburbia. The series aired for eight seasons between 1993 and 1997. Later, Judge also directed feature-length Beavis and Butt-Head film titled, appropriately enough, Beavis and Butt-Head Do America. MTV briefly revived the series in 2011 for a single season.
Mike Judge’s filmography is impressive. His satirical work includes the cartoon series King of the Hill as well as movies like Idiocracy and Office Space. His latest project was the TV series Silicon Valley which ended last year after airing for five seasons at HBO.
