Seth Rogen Producing a New Ninja Turtles Animated Film

Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen, and James Weaver will produce a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3D-animated feature film through their company Point Grey Pictures. The film’s director will be Jeff Rowe, who previously directed episodes of Disenchantment and Gravity Falls. Brendan O’Brien (Neighbors, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates) will write the script. According to SlashFilm, the new Ninja Turtles animated film will be produced in collaboration with Nickelodeon, which already successfully revamped the cartoon series in 2012 and again in 2018.

It’s somewhat surprising to see this company team up with the creators of such R-rated fare as This Is the End, Neighbors, and Good Boys. Even their sole animated film Sausage Party wasn’t exactly kid-friendly. But then again, we could see Rogen, Goldberg, and others tackling on Ninja Turtles with glee. After all, theirs is the generation that grew up watching the first animated series as well as the 1990 feature film. And anarchic humor was a part of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the very start in the 1980s when it was just a comic book making fun of superhero stories.
