Jurassic World: Dominion Filming to Resume in July

Jurassic World: Dominion may be the first major studio movie to resume filming on sets in the UK, says BloodyDisgusting. Universal announced it would continue shooting on July 6. The studio revealed this news after conducting extensive talks both with the British Film Council and US unions to ensure the production meets required safety and health standards.

Universal intends to spend around $5 million on its safety protocols. These will include the commission of a private medical facility, COVID-19 training for all cast and crew; on-site doctors, nurses and isolation booths; 150 hand sanitizer stations; nightly anti-viral “fogs” as well as obligatory masks for all the cast and crew except for actors performing on the scene. Everyone will be tested before filming resumes. Tests will continue regularly throughout the production.

The third film in a Jurassic World trilogy, Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World: Dominion was in the fourth week of its twenty-week shoot when the pandemic broke out in mid-March. All through the last couple of months, Pinewood has been charging Universal holding fees, which is another reason why the studio wants to resume filming as soon as possible. Since many among the film’s cast — including Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard — returned to the US during the pandemic, they will have to undergo a two-week quarantine when they arrive in the UK, as per government regulations.
