Over the last two years, filmmaker Ari Aster drew attention with his horror movies Hereditary and Midsommar. These films brought him critical acclaim and financial success, while also driving their audiences insane with unbearable tension.
This is why we reluctantly report Aster is considering filming a four-hour zonky nightmare comedy following the lead character’s life over 17 years. Considering his previous films, the project sounds both intimidating and exhausting. Aster revealed all this during an interview with UC Santa Barbara’s Associated Students Program Board. Since the interview was fairly informal, Aster might have only been joking. Or was he?
Aster also revealed he will be producing a remake of Save the Green Planet! through his production company Square Peg. This 2003 Korean science-fiction comedy tells a story about a man who abducts a powerful pharmaceutical executive in a belief he is the leader of extraterrestrial forces from Andromeda. Aliens are getting ready to invade our world and the only way to reveal the truth is by torturing the executive. Is the man dangerously psychotic or are there more sinister forces at work here? Or maybe it’s both! You’ll have to check the movie for yourself to find out!
