Stellan Skarsgard (Chernobyl, Thor) and Kyle Soller (The Titan, Poldark) have joined the cast of Lucasfilm’s as-yet-untitled Star Wars TV show about Cassian Andor, a Rebellion operative from the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. There are currently no details as to whom will they play, says Variety.
Described as a “spy thriller”, this prequel series is set in the early days of the Rebellion. Diego Luna (Narcos: Mexico) will reprise his performance as Andor, while Alan Tudyk (Tucker & Dale vs. Evil) will once again voice Andor’s morose droid sidekick K-2SO. As we reported earlier, Rogue One co-writer Tony Gilroy will write the show’s pilot and direct several episodes of its first season. He will work alongside showrunner Stephen Schiff (The Americans).
Following the success of the first-ever live-action Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian, Disney+ continues developing on other possible Star Wars TV shows. Besides the Cassian Andor show and The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm was also working on a miniseries about Obi Wan-Kenobi. Ewan McGregor was to reprise his role from the Star Wars prequel trilogy, but the project encountered some problems.
