Netflix Renews Castlevania and Locke & Key; The Umbrella Academy Still on Track

GeekTyrant reports that Netflix just renewed several fan-favorite shows. On Friday, Netflix renewed anime horror series Castlevania – mere weeks after the release of the show’s third season. On Monday, streaming service announced season two of the fantasy horror series Locke & Key. Lastly, we also learned that season two of The Umbrella Academy was currently in post-production, meaning it will arrive on schedule.

Castlevania was first released on Netflix in 2017. This adult animated TV series is based on Konami’s insanely successful franchise of action gothic horror video games. As for Locke & Key, it is based on an acclaimed graphic novel by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez. While two previous attempts at its adaptation – by FOX and Hulu – failed, the third time proved out to be a charm.

With so many productions halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was great to hear that the principal photography on The Umbrella Academy’s season 2 was already done. The crew working on this adaptation of a graphic novel by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá is currently editing the footage, carefully observing social distancing.
